REACTIONS.....

Our souls, our creativity and our ability to make a difference in the world becomes very restricted if we limit what we say and do based on other peoples reaction to us.......

Although we are all colorful, some of us do it by being chameleons while others do it by being butterflies. Many of us change like chameleons to accomodate other peoples reactions, always trying to blend into every situation and environment.Butterflies show off their colorful uniqueness by standing out and using their freedom to fly and explore.....

How other people react to what you say and do never has anything to do with you.But it certainly has everything to do with them. You can say the exact same thing to two or more people and each one will react differently based entirely on their previous experiences in life and how they are feeling.............Do you agree with me? What can you say about it?

i'm like a chaemleoan trying to fit in but am trying to turn into a butterfly now and don't care about others.

i agree, ppl's perspectives depends upon their life situation and experiences and knowledge.

I find it especially true of poetry: what goes in and what people take out are often very different.
I'm enjoying the Quebec pix very much. I know little or nothing about the place.

great topic that you bring up. i consider myself a butterfly. i say what i feel regardless of what reaction i will get. i have to be honest, otherwise i don't feel good about myself. i do agree that people react based on their past experiences and feelings. i know i do.
great topic you bring up here eden :)

I can be a butterfly or chamelian depending on mood/circumstance - often I am a salmon swimming against the current.

Eden, thanks for visiting my blog. I appreciate your encouraging words; affirmation will get you just about anything.

Butterflies and chameleons: very good metaphor to describe what you're talking about. I guess I've been both; I guess I am both: For example I'm a very different person on the tennis court than I am in a Quaker meeting or Bible Study.

Years ago I had a great teacher named Elizabeth O'Connor. Her book called Our Many Selves describes the many selves that make up our lives. (I thought so highly of the book that I bought 50 copies of it and gave them to my friends.)

I notice that you can get one from Amazon for $2, quite a bargain.

too old to be doing it now but once upon time my dress sense used to draw some strange looks which strangely enough i found highly embarrasing but i was determined to be me and not bend myself to their precept of what people should wear. still feel that way now. butterfly i guess.
haven't been to quebec (where two of my cousin live) since '78. fab place.

I think we have all been butterflies, and chameleons, depending what situation we've been in. Some people are more butterfly then chameleon while others are the opposite. Situations really can effect what you act like, especially aorund family and friends. I say family is the most difficult to be a butterfly al the time because you know what they expect from you and it seems like this dependence by your family and the expectations they set make you adapt to what goes on. Being a teenager it is extremely hard to be an individual, as I am still governed by another set of rules that are not my own. There are so many things I want to do and try, but I know that they would be frowned upon, and to keep a positive atmosphere and to keep my household in a happier demeanor, I find it better to be a butterfly with my friends and on my own time. If we all acted as butterflies and never conformed what do you think the world would be like?
